Farmers of CM’s own constiuency agitating, unhappy: Ajay singh
Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh has said that at the time when Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was on Monday making several announcements for farmers, the peasants in his (Chouhan’s) constituency are agitating at Nasrullahganj tehsil.
Singh asked as why the farmers of Madhya Pradesh should believe him (the Chief Minister), when farmers of his own constituency are not believing him and taken path of agitation.
Throughout the State, when farmers are facing problems with their damaged crops due to hailstorm, the Chief Minister made several announcements in Bhopal by spending `10 crore at the programme.
Singh stated that against the claims of the State Government that 2.5 lakh farmers would attend the programme, only 20,000 arrived. Moreover, these farmers were BJP members, he alleged.
Singh said that the announcements made by the Chief Minister at the programme, was merely a repetition of those declarations, he has already made at Kisan Panchayats in the past.
Informing about the agitation of farmers in Nasrullahganj, Singh said that about 500 farmers took out a rally and on reaching the tehsil office commenced their indefinite agitation. He further said that the agitation by famrers of his constituency suggests that in past 14 years, CM only made announcements and did not fulfill them. He asked why the farmers are still moving pillar to post to get adequate prices of their crops. He said in past 14 years, with the faulty policies of the State Government, 180 farmers have committed suicide in the State.
